With the Champions League last-16 clash between Manchester City and Barcelona just around the corner, all the limelight will be on the Catalan giants' indispensable Argentine; Lionel Messi.
The 27-year-old attacker has been in excellent form since the new year, scoring 14 goals and assisting nine in 2015 alone. However, ahead of Tuesday night's Etihad encounter, La Pulga is once again dominating the headlines, but for reasons unpleasing to the Barcelona faithful.
According to former team-mate Eric Abidal, Messi could be headed for a Camp Nou exit, and as early as next summer, with a move to Ligue 1 holders Paris Saint-Germain a possible destination.
"He's won everything at Barcelona and so he might be interested in the challenge of winning trophies at another club", the Frenchman told Telefoot.
"PSG have put together a good squad with determination and many objectives to achieve. It's a club that might appeal to Leo".
These comments by the retired defender comes just as Messi was already making the front pages, after being pictured out with Gerard Pique and close friend Cesc Fabregas.
The trio hit the casino, Casino de Barcelona in particular, in the early hours of the morning, not too long before their flight for Manchester was due. This led to speculations that Messi and Pique would face the wrath of their boss.
Nonetheless, manager Luis Enrique brushed aside the incident, claiming the be okay with the whole situation, despite refusing to comment on their night out.
“No gossip. Not interested. Only football. At this club, you sometimes need something extra to decorate the tree of life,” the Asturian coach stated.
