After the incidents generated by Dutch fans in Rome last week, both National Teams would play a match to help raise money to restore the damage made in the Italian capital.

Prior to the Europa League match between Roma and Feyenoord, a huge portion of the 6,000 Dutch fans attending the game clashed with anti-riot police in the Italian capital, leaving up to two million pounds in damage to historic monuments. While the city major demanded the fans to raise money for repairs, both National Team's execs are plotting a friendly match in order to help with fundraising efforts.

"It's a great idea, not just for the monetary value, but because it reminds us that sport should be associated with joy and serenity and not those horrible images of vandalism," city major Ignazio Marino stated. "I spoke with President Carlo Tavecchio who responded enthusiastically to the idea. I'm sure we'll be able to make this happen. A few hours from now I'll be hearing the mayor of Rotterdam to discuss the topic," he added

After the game, which ended with a 1-1 score, Roma fans revealed via their social media accounts they would be travelling to Rotterdam, where the city's authorities fear the Italian supporters may want to take matters into their own hands. For the moment, Dutch authorities will apply security measures for the Italian fans, whose number may go up to 2,500. Among other measures, Rotterdam police could ban alcohol sales for the visitors in certain areas, in order to prevent a disaster of such proportions.
