Borussia Dortmund, having won two games on the trot will look to add a third win against relegation threatened Stuttgart. Stuttgart has turned from a mid-table side to one which battles against the drop every season. Long gone are the days when Stuttgart could produce epic displays of football and resilience such as a 4-4 draw against a team fighting for the Bundesliga table. Stuttgart’s title win in 2007 is being pushed further and further back in memory. The Swabians are currently bottom of the table; BVB are three spots ahead of them. The two are separated by a mere four points.
Daniel Didavi and Antonio Rudiger are injured for Stuttgart. Their captain and former Wolfsburg man, Christian Gentner is suspended. Utility man Kevin Grosskreutz, defender Erik Durm and experienced winger Kuba are all out for BVB. Defensive midfielder Sven Bender, former captain Sebastian Kehl could both be set to return for this one. Captain Mats Hummels might be kept out of the match due to a bout of the flu.
