The legendary striker who played for both clubs stated that the Round of 16 matchup between the two sides will not be a walk in the park for Los Blancos.

Former Real Madrid and Schalke 04 legend Raul Gonzalez spoke about the UEFA Champions League matchup between the German side and the current title holders. Despite being destroyed by Los Blancos last year, "El Angel de Madrid" warned Ancelotti's men not to take their opponents for granted, since they have been playing better this season.

"Schalke will do everything in their power to spoil Real Madrid's party. Right now, I would say Madrid will win, but I don't think Schalke will hand the game over to them. This time around, it will be much more difficult for Real Madrid," Raul stated.

Last year, Real Madrid thrashed Schalke with an aggregate of 9-2. After revealing he believes Los Blancos will prevail, the Spanish player who recently signed for NY Cosmos praised Schalke's fans, since they were always supportive of him while he played for them.

"I felt a very special connection with the team's fans from day one. Schalke's fans are something else, no one can beat them. I'm sure that playing in New York will be a wonderful experience, but it can never compare to what I lived in Germany," Gonzalez added.

With his UEFA Champions League scoring record already beaten by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Raúl refused to answer who would be a more suitable heir to that honor.

"I'm sure that whoever ends up as the tournament's top scorer will deserve it," he concluded.
