Second consecutive debut that Villa scores in. Frank Lampard will be his teammate once he is done with Manchester City.

David Villa is already making an impact with his new MLS team and the season has not even started. The striker scored the first ever goal in the history of his new team, New York City FC.

It happened on Tuesday night against Scottish side St. Mirren at the new Manchester City Academy. Even for someone who has played for bigger clubs such as Valencia, Atletico and Barcelona, this was something to be proud off.

The Spanish international shared his emotions on Twitter

Villa is a well known for his scoring ability. He has found the back of the net on 61 occasions and over 200 with the different clubs he has belonged to.

The 2005-06 Spanish Player of the Year showed off his killer instincts during the 2-0 win of New York over St. Mirren. Villa received a cross from the left side and with two quick moves he got rid of the goalkeeper and scored.

El Guaje is one of two the designated players in the New York FC roster. Frank Lampard, who has spent the past 13 years with Chelsea, is the other player whose salary does not hurt the club’s salary cap.

New York will kick off its season on March 8 at Orlando. Kaka will be among the players Villa would most likely face in his MLS regular season debut.
