Real Madrid's president spoke with the team after their poor performance against Atletico last Saturday, while fans protested earlier with banner.

Saturday's disappointing display against Atletico set off the alarms in Real Madrid's training grounds. Spanish newspaper Marca revealed today Los Blancos' president Florentino Perez held a two-hour meeting with the team and with coach Carlo Ancelotti, urging them to take matters into their hands to revert a potential crisis.

Sources close to the meeting state Perez met first with Carlo Ancelotti, demanding an explanation for the tactics used against Diego Simeone's men. This was the sixth consecutive game for Real Madrid where they haven't been able to defeat Los Colchoneros. After meeting with the Italian tactician, Perez spoke to the complete squad, asking them to recover their previous form, and urging them to "stop fooling around."

Cristiano Ronaldo's party, criticized by the team's captains

After such a below average performance in Madrid's derby, Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday celebration did not go down well among the team's captains. The Portuguese superstar's attitude was criticized by Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, who were invited to the party, but decided not to make an appearance after their baffling display against Atletico. Sources indicate Casillas was enraged with the player's exploits during the party, which extended until 4:00 a.m. The team apparently was preparing to ask Cristiano to explain why he allowed images to hit social media, just when the team had lost one of the biggest matches this season.

Fans protest over the team's display

Just before Monday's training session started, a few fans appeared at Real Madrid's training grounds with a banner, where they protested the team's performance on Saturday. They were invited out by security personnel after being photographed.
