Concerns regarding Arsenal’s goalkeeping situation have gone higher lately as fans moan over the credibility of current number one goalie Manuel Almunia and second choice Lukasz Fabianski.

David Seaman, former Arsenal goalkeeperNow former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman gave his thoughts as the Gunners work around the clock to solve the issue. He made his point clear while speaking to the media:

“Both Almunia and Fabianski didn’t end the season well. They both made mistakes in high-profile games that effectively cost them the chance of some silverware.”

Presently, reports suggest that Arsenal are looking to replace goalkeeper Manuel Almunia with either Fulham’s goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer or Manchester City’s Shay Given. David Seaman encouraged the Gunner’s choice to land the 37-year-old Australian shot-stopper. He stated:

“He is a great player. He has been tried and tested, and he can make saves that wins you games.”

Meanwhile, Shay Given is also considering an exit from Manchester City. Manchester Evening Newquoted a source close to the Irish man as saying:

“Shay is confused and torn over what to do. He joined City only 18 months ago as he wanted to win things after 10 years at Newcastle.

“But he just wants to play, and he doesn’t see Roberto Mancini leaving [Joe] Hart now, even if he [Joe Hart] makes a mistake. [Roberto Mancini] will want to stand by his man.

“Shay is watching the situation with the goalkeepers at Arsenal and at Fulham. A loan move might be something that he would consider.”

Manchester City Coach Roberto Mancini has made it clear that he will not get in the way of Shay Given’s decision as he stated:

“I hope that Shay will stay with us because we are in four competitions. But, I respect his decision if he wants to leave.”
