In a show of great humility, Ivory Coast coach Hervé Renard's post match quotes after his side's AFCON 2015 quarter final win over Algeria were full of respect for the North Africans.

Few coaches in the modern game would take the humble route taken by Ivory Coast coach Herve Renard in their post match conference after defeating a strong rival like Algeria with such a flattering score line as the Elephants did on 1st Feb 2015.

However, after dumping the North Africans out of AFCON 2015, meek Renard was quick to heap praise on his opponents, declaring them the better team on the day. He quick to state that he did not at all regret sending the Desert Warriors home empty handed.

"In terms of football, ball skills, Algeria was better than us," said Renard.

"We must be clear with ourselves and do not be too good, find the most effective tactic against a team that plays on the ground and the best use of set-pieces."

"But that is not our fault if Algeria has not been good in this area."

"It was the team that played well in the tournament, but [we won] 3-1."

"We will not say sorry to have won."

Next, Ivory Coast take on DR Congo on Feb 4th as AFCON 2015 hits a frantic climax.
