Scotland’s Celtic are forced to forget about the past and look ahead in search of a bright future in the UEFA Europa League.

Celtic Coach LennonThe Scottish giants were stunned by Portugal’s Sporting Braga in Round 3 of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers. Their 3-0 loss away from home caused all the damage as their 2-1 victory over Braga at Celtic Park proved to be meaningless.

Now for the second year in a row, they will have to infuse power in their UEFA Europa League hopes instead of enjoying the honor of participating in the continent’s most prestigious club competition. Celtic Coach Neil Lennon told the media after his side drew Utrecht earlier in August:

 

“Whenever a Dutch team comes, they will always try and play football. Technically, they are very good. We are familiar with one or two of Utrecht’s players, but we will be doing our homework between now and the first leg.

“We want to put on a good performance against Utrecht and take a lead over there.

"Hopefully, we’ll Celtic striker Fortuneget into the group stages, and anything can happen after that.”

Striker Fortune echoed the manager and the entire club’s desire to do well in the Europa League as he explained:

“When you play for Celtic, you can’t think about having a season without European football. We have to be in Europe every year. It’s important for us to we win this game at home to give us a chance of going through to the group stages.

“There’s not much between the two teams, but I think that Celtic are the favorites because we are the bigger club. Also, we are used to playing in the Champions League or Europa League every year.”
