After Jorge Costa's furious remarks in the aftermath of his team's elimination from AFCON 2015 at the hands of Equatorial Guinea, the hosts' Javier Balboa has strongly refuted diving accusations levelled against him and his teammates.

Equatorial Guinea's Javier Balboa has wasted no time in responding to the furious comments made by Gabon coach Jorge Costa after the Gabonese were forced out of the Africa Cup of Nations courtesy of a 2-0 defeat by the hosts on Sunday.

Costa was visibly incensed as he spoke to the press after the game, insisting that Balboa had dived to win the spot kick. Much to the dismay of the Gabonese, the Estoril striker was the player to take the spot kick, and he promptly dispatched it past the Gabon keeper to put his team ahead.

“The penalty was the right decision,” insisted Balboa.

“Yes, it changed the game because we played better as a team after the goal. But we also scored two goals.”

Regardless of the controversy surrounding Equatorial Guinea's win, Balboa, along with the rest of Equatorial Guinea, was excited at the miracle the team wa able to pull in getting to the quarter finals.

“I am happy for my country, for my team and myself. Today is a great day for the whole of Equatorial Guinea.”
