The Spanish defender also stated he would love to retire playing for Real Madrid, despite all the rumors that place him elsewhere.

Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa spoke on a radio show about his career and his desire to retire while playing for Real Madrid. After never revealing how he felt about being harshly trolled by Madrid's fans, the former Liverpool back challenged his haters to take a deeper look into his accomplishments, despite not being as technically gifted as some would want.

"I've heard things that really got to me. Some of them hurt, but the ones that suffer the most are my relatives. I know everyone that comes here and I am aware of who talks straight. I just hope that they go around calling someone 'a training cone' and win every tournament I've won with the teams I've played for," Arbeloa stated.

The Spanish player added that playing for Real Madrid is not easy, since everyone cares about what the team does and what they don't do.

"It's really tough to play here. Not many players can handle the pressure, and I'm sure there have been lots of players that would rather throw in the towel because of the media attention you get here. It takes a lot from you, but it also is an honor to play here," Arbeloa added.

The 32-year old defender is already thinking about how he wishes his career to end, and he can't think of a better finale than playing for Los Blancos.

"I have been very lucky for playing with Real Madrid. My commitment with the team ends the next year and I would love to live up to it. It would be a dream come true for me to end my career with a team like this," he ended.
