The West African country scored with a fabulously taken goal against giants Ivory Coast but their jubilation was cut short by a grenade explosion at a bar at around that time. Was it football-related?

After most people gave Guinea a very little chance during their clash with the mighty Elephants of Ivory Coast, their first half performance, which included a sumptuously taken goal that completely stunned Toure and co., Guinea fans had cause to celebrate. The mood in the West African country was one of jubilation as people crowded into sports bars to cheer the National Elephant on.

However, the celebrations and excitement among football fans were cut short by news of the death of at least one person when a grenade exploded at a bar in the country's capital of Conakry.

When contacted about the incident, Guinea police spokesman Mamadou Alpha Barry, was quick to label it 'an accidental explosion'. "Three bodies are at the morgue," he continued.

However, the head of police General Ibrahima Balde, said, he could only confirm one death from the incident at the time.

A source at the bar said, "we were celebrating the Guinean goal when we heard a strong explosion in the bar, which was full of people watching the game, because there wasn't any electricity in the neighbourhood."

More news are yet to surface about this regrettable incident.
