As one of the most heavily fancied teams at this year's Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria will be feeling pretty confident about their chances of clinching the highly coveted trophy. Nothing short of a semifinal finish will be interpreted as success for the Desert Warriors.

Algeria are one of the most respected teams in Africa and in fact, as per the latest FIFA CAF rankings, the best team in the continent. This notion is further reinforced by their surprise #18 ranking on FIFA's world list, a few places above the likes of Mexico, Tunisia, and Greece. This team is no stranger to the smell of victory on African soil, having lifted the AFCON trophy in 1990 when they hosted the tournament. In total, the Desert Warriors have made 14 appearances in Africa's most prestigious international football competition.

How Algeria qualified for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations

As expected, Algeria had a very sure footed journey into CAN 2015. Placed in a group containing the likes of Ethiopia, Mali, and Malawi, the Warriors won all their games and became one of the first nations to qualify, thrashing a visiting Malawi side 3-0. Ethiopia were next on line, with the Algerians once again able to score 3 goals against their opponents at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Bilda.
