Los Blancos easily destroyed Mexican side Cruz Azul, a team that missed the first ever penalty kick in the tournament's history.

Real Madrid started their quest for the Club World Cup with a cintillating victory against Mexican side Cruz Azul. Los Blancos seemed to have little trouble finding their way into the CONCACAF title holders' net, and earned their 21st consecutive win in every competition.

Sergio Ramos scored the first goal for Real Madrid after goalkeeper Jesus Corona failed to clear the ball from his box. When the Mexican team reacted, Karim Benzema put to good use a great cross by Dani Carvajal to make it 2-0. La Maquina had the chance to make it 2-1, but Gerardo Torrado failed to score his penalty kick against Iker Casillas. This is the first penalty kick ever to be missed in the Club World Cup history.

After the halftime break, Cruz Azul tried to pull back, but Real Madrid managed to score the third goal with a nice header by Gareth Bale.

Los Blancos relaxed and gave their opponent the chance to keep the ball, but Iker Casillas could have just sat and enjoy the show. Pablo Barrera almost made it 3-1 with a shot that hit the upright, but it was Isco who would put the final touch to Real Madrid's performance.
