Real Madrid will start their performance in the Club World Cup on December 16th against Mexican team Cruz Azul. Check the live TV and online streaming broadcast listings for Cruz Azul vs Real Madrid below.

The Club World Cup will have one of its distinguished guests making their first appearance. Real Madrid, with all of their superstars, will be heavily favored to beat Cruz Azul, the CONCACAF representative. Carlo Ancelotti's men will try to bring this tournament home for the first time, being one of the few trophies they are yet to conquer.

Cruz Azul made their debut on Saturday against Western Sydney Wanderers. The Mexican club struggled to beat the recently created team from Australia, raising doubts about their real chances of putting up a fight against the UEFA Champions League holders. The Australian team went ahead on the scoreboard, but Gerardo Torrado equalized with a late penalty kick. During overtime, "La Máquina" took advantage of the extra man on the pitch to earn a 3-1 result, gaining the right to face Los Blancos.

Coach Luis Fernando Tena stated today that his team has to play the best game of their lives, if they want to beat Real Madrid and gain access to the final match. If Cruz Azul want to make that happen, then players such as Christian Gimenez, Marco Fabian and Argentinian Mariano Pavone will have to prove why they were recruited to play with the blue and white team in the first place. A victory against the Spanish side could be cosidered the greatest win in the club's history, and would provide fans the joy they haven't been able to experience in their local tournament, where they have not been able to win a title since 1997.

Real Madrid return to this tournament for the first time since the year 2000. Back then, los Merengues were not able to top their group, and were forced to play for the third place, where they lost in a penalty shootout against Mexican team Necaxa. With such players like Raul, Fernando Hierro and Iker Casillas, that moment in history remains as one of the biggest failures in the club's history, which they will try to revert this time.

Playing their best football in years, the ten-time winners of the UEFA Champions League arrive to this tournament without midfielders Luka Modric and Sami Khedira, who have been struggling with injuries. Furthermore, Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez is questionable, and may be ready to play if Real Madrid make it to the Finals. Of course, the fate of the team will depend on how well Cristiano Ronaldo can play for them.If he can show all his class, then the Mexican team should have their bags packed.

This will not be the first match between the two sides. Back in 2001, these clubs met at the Teresa Herrera tournament, where Real Madrid needed a penalty shootout to win against the Mexican side. One of the interesting facts about that game is that Portuguese star Luis Figo missed two penalty kicks, one during the second half of the match and the other one in the penalty shootout. So, Los Blancos will try to keep their dominance against Cruz Azul so they can fight for one of the few titles they have never possessed.
