The top seeded teams in the Mexican tournament will play the first leg on Thursday and the second leg on Sunday. This will be the first final match between the two sides.

The Mexican Apertura 2014 Finals stage is set. Club America and Tigres will play against each other to determine who will be crowned Champion for the second semester of the year, following Leon's back-to-back championships in last year's Apertura and this year's Clausura tournaments.

Club America defeated Tigres' "neighbors" Monterrey in their semi-final matchup with a 3-0 aggregate. If they manage to come out on top the Monterrey-based club, then Las Aguilas will become the winningest team in Mexico's professional football history. Antonio Mohamed's men will have to overcome internal problems within the team, since right back and Mexican international Paul Aguilar was excluded from the team due to a disciplinary action.

Tigres, the current Copa MX champions, will try to make it two-for-two this semester. Coach Ricardo Ferretti may not present the most attacking team in the whole world, but his effective style was enough to overcome Toluca in their semi-final pairing. Tigres made it to the Final series without winning any of the two legs against Jose Cardozo's team, but advanced with the away goals rule favoring them.

The first leg of the final series will be played on Thursday night at University Stadium in Monterrey. The second leg will take place at historic Azteca Stadium on Sunday.
