Southampton has been impressive in the current campaign under new manager Ronald Koeman, but the month of December will be a serious test for the Saints. Wanting to make up ground in the league standings, Arsenal will be seeking revenge from their 2-1 defeat against Southampton in the Capital One Cup.

Saints and Gunners meet at the Emirates tonight in what should be a very entertaining match. Ronald Koeman's side have done well this season, and they will be looking to bounce back from their heavy 3-0 defeat at home against Manchester City.

The Dutch manager has already defeated the Gunners this season, in a 2-1 victory at the Emirates, which knocked Arsenal out of the Capital One Cup.

In that match, the Gunners fielded a few rotation players, but this time around, Arsene Wenger is expected to field his best available squad.

With Koscielny back from injury, his partnership at the heart of the defense has helped.

Two successive clean sheets against Dortmund and West Brom will give the rest of the side some confidence. Being able to put in another solid defensive showing will be key tonight, against a Southampton side that has shown they can score goals.

Winless in their last 19 Premier League away matches against Arsenal, Southampton has it all to do. Many football analysts believe that the Saints won't be able to compete against the bigger clubs in the EPL, and this will be yet another test for Koeman, who has never lost against Wenger (D4 L2)

Southampton are likely to feature a similar side to the one that featured against Man City, with the exception of Morgan Schneiderlen. The French midfielder picked up an injury and is due for a scan, opening up an opportunity for Jack Cork to sit alongside Victor Wanyama.

Arsenal has some injury concerns of their own, which has become a habit over the last few years.

From their squad that defeated West Brom at the weekend, Kieran Gibbs is a doubt, as is Nacho Monreal, who both picked up a knock. In their absence, Wenger will not have a left back, and could be forced to play someone out of position, but the Frenchman will be hopeful that one of them will be able to feature.
