This was the first time Antonio Conte called up the Liverpool striker after his below average performance during the World Cup.

Mario Balotelli's comeback with Italy was cut short today. The Italian Football Federation informed through a press release that the Liverpool striker would not take part of the team's matches against Croatia and Albania, after coming down with a groin injury.

The press release also stated Juventus' defender Angelo Ogbonna would leave the team due to a muscular problem.

This was the first time coach Antonio Conte called up Balotelli after taking over Cesare Prandelli's job with the Azzurri. Balotelli has been struggling this year with Liverpool after a highly publicized transfer from AC Milan, and the National Team's coach decided to leave "Super Mario" alone so he could adapt to his new club.

Balotelli's presence with the Italian team was expected to be controversial, since his last appearances with the Azzurri were not as pleasant as fans would have expected. The Italians will face Croatia in their Euro 2016 Qualifying match on Sunday, and will finish their international schedule with a friendly match against Albania.
