Their victory against Anderlecht two weeks ago could have been a turning point for the Gunners. They now host the Belgian side in a Champions League fixture they are expected to win.

Last minute heroics in Belgium helped Arsenal ignite their Champions League campaign. When it all seemed lost, goals from Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski earned the North London side three important points, and they now prepare to take on the Belgians at home.

Arsenal looked destined for another disappointing result against newly promoted Burnley on Saturday. But another inspired performance from Alexis Sanchez guided the Gunners to a 3-0 victory, which will have them confident ahead of Tuesday’s European clash.

With three points separating them from the top of Group D leaders Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal must snatch all three points in order to keep pressure on the German outfit.

Tuesday’s match will mark the return of Wojciech Szczesny, after the Polish international was suspended for their meeting in Belgium.

One confirmed absence will be Jack Wilshere, who has been suffering with a knee injury, but Arsene Wenger confirmed on Monday that the Englishman will not play due to illness.

Despite his absence, Arsenal will have Theo Walcott back for his first Champions League match in quite some time. The England international made his return to the pitch late in the second half against Burnley, showing off his pace that will be problematic for opponents once he finds his form.

Anderlecht will have their backs against the wall, knowing that things won’t be easy for them at the Emirates.

In Belgium, they are at the top of the table, but lead by just one point. And their six wins after 29 matches against English opponents will not offer them any added confidence ahead of Tuesday’s European fixture.
