Hector Herrera, currently playing for FC Porto, would become a Citizen in the upcoming transfer window, according to Portuguese sources

Hector Herrera, one of Mexico's most promising players, may leave FC Porto in the upcoming transfer window, after being sought out by English Champion Manchester City. According to Portuguese sources, "El Zorro" has been scouted for quite some time by Txiki Beguiristain, and the club would be ready to bid for the player's services.

The Citizens have kept an eye on Herrera after his performance during last summer's World Cup, where he displayed quality football along Juan Jose Vazquez and PSV Eindhoven's Andres Guardado. Herrera became a regular for coach Julen Lopetegui this season, following his transfer from Pachuca one year ago. This would not be the first Porto player to become a Citizen, because Manuel Pellegrini's crew signed Fernando Reges and Eliaquim Mangala before this season started. Recently, Herrera scored his first Champions League goal against Lille.

Besides his participation in Brazil's World Cup, Herrera won the Gold Medal with Mexico back in 2012, and has been scouted by other Premier League sides such as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
