Fans around the world voted in the league's website to select this year's nominees. The winner will be announced on Monday, October 27th.

One more battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will have a winner this Monday. After their Clasico match this weekend, the Spanish League will reveal the "Goal of the Year" award, which has the two superstars nominated.

Perhaps the underdog in this nomination is Mexican Giovani Dos Santos, who scored a magnificent strike against Valencia in their Week 10 matchup at El Madrigal. Dos Santos was key in the "Yellow Submarine's" return to top-flight Spanish football, helpig Villarreal earn a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

Lionel Messi got the nomination honoring his beautiful free kick strike against Almeria during their Week 26 game at Camp Nou. The Argentinian player scored 28 goals last season with Barcelona, but was not able to help Los Blaugranas take home any trophies during last year's competitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo was nominated after scoring a back heel goal in the dying seconds of Real Madrid's game against Valencia. The Portuguese finished as La Liga's leading striker with 31 goals, anda managed to win the Spanish Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League with Los Blancos.
