Milan hope to keep up their solid start this season as they welcome Fiorentina on Sunday, October 26th.

After their poor run last season, Milan fans had little to really expect of the team this campaign. As a result of their 8th-placed finish, the Rossoneri are missing out on any kind of European football for the first time in several seasons. However, one good aspect of neither Champions nor Europa League football is that it will allow them to re-focus and try to get their domestic affairs back on track.

Under former striker Filippo Inzaghi, they have started proceedings off well as evidenced by the 16 goals they have scored so far--the highest output in the league. However, their prolific attack has been unfortunately matched with a questionable back-line that has conceded 10 goals and still look unsteady from set pieces, a issue that blighted them last season.

Yet, one bright side under Inzaghi's tenure is several players finding their form so far. Offensively, the star has certainly been Japanese international Keisuke Honda who has netted six goals so far and has settled in nicely after a difficult adjustment period last season. Meanwhile, defender Ignazio Abate is another that now appears to have found his footing. The soon-to-be 28-year-old is finally seeing his once wayward crosses finding teammates with four assists, including two for Honda in seven games.

As a result, Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella will definitely have his opponents' questionable defensive showings on the back of his mind. The Viola have struggled so far due to the absence of key attackers such as Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez and have just won twice in their league fixtures thus far. It has been difficult for both the Italian and German internationals as both seem to never have any good luck when it comes to recovering from their respective injury woes. And given their quality, it's not surprising that their loss has been hugely felt by the rest of the team.

Despite Milan's advantage in the league standings, they will have to be wary of a hungry Viola side that will be determined to cause them some trouble as they are desperate to get going and start climbing the table.
