The Mexican coach did not deny hitting his team's fan, even saying he will endure the consequences of his actions on and off the pitch.

One of the most controversial coaches in Mexico has created another scene. After his team lost a home game against Toluca with a 2-0 score, Tomas Boy headed for the press conference where he was confronted by a fan, who called him a coward for his defensive tactics. The coach immediately responded by hitting the fan once, which made security get involved. The fan, named Luis Carlos Velazquez, explained in his own words what happened:

"When I saw Tomas Boy coming towards me, I let my feelings go by calling him a coward. Without a warning, the next thing I knew was that Boy had punched me in the face, and kept on trying to hit me once more, but security got involved and took him away. I felt the need to tell him my thoughts, since I pay a lot of money for my tickets and I don't like how the team plays. I never offended him in such a way to cause that reaction," the fan stated.

The club refused to release a statement regarding the issue, but let Boy give his side of the story:

"He got what he deserved. I was just getting out of the pitch, and this guy comes and insults me, what did you expect? If you go on and call me names, I'm sure I will answer. Besides, it was after the game, it meant nothing to me, it's just not relevant," the coach replied.

The coach went even further and stated some other fans defended him after being insulted, but recognized their fans have a right to let them know what they think:

"He can tell me whatever he wants, but if I'm on the stands, then we are even. I know it wasn't appropriate for me to go and fight with him, but I'm a human being, and I just responded to someone who kept insulting me for at least three times during the game," Boy added.

Atlas' coach has been involved in several arguments with a number of players and coaches, and is well-known for making his teams display lovely tactics on the field, but has never won a championship of any kind.
