Arsenal are facing a midfield injury crisis as the Welshman, alongside Arteta, are set to miss the Gunners' key ties against Galatasaray and Chelsea

English Premier League side Arsenal's midfield looks set to be torn apart by injuries yet again just as the club are gearing up for a run of key consecutive features.

The north London club saw influential Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey pick up a knock in their 1-1 draw with city rivals Tottenaham, on Saturday, pulling a hamstring, which forced the 23-year-old off the pitch deep into the first half.

Club captain and Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta was also on the receiving end of an injury, suffering a calf injury, and was also removed off the pitch in the 28th minute.

And now, as reported by the Sun (per 101 Great Goals), news is not looking good for the Gunners as Ramsey is rumored to be facing a six week lay off, with Arteta sidelined for two weeks.

This couldn't have come at a worse time for the FA Cup holders, as Arsenal are set to embark on a number of key ties, which will see the club host Turkish giants Galatasaray at home in the Champions League this Wednesday, before traveling to face title favorites Chelsea, on Sunday.

Le Prof ruled out the two midfielders availability after the north London derby game ended, but holds hope for Jack Wilshere to make the trip to Stamford Bridge, saying:

"I don't know how long they'll be out. I think Ramsey is a hamstring and Arteta is a calf. Wilshere [has] an ankle [problem].

"Wilshere, I don't know. The two others are out for Chelsea for sure."

But Wenger remains hopeful over Wilshere's fitness after the English midfielder rolled his ankle in the game vs Spurs

After bringing in fitness guru Shad Forsythe to help curb Arsenal's on-going injury issues, their long-serving French manager is now short of midfield option.

Wenger hinted at deploying 19-year-old defender Calum Chambers further up the pitch while his midfield duo are out, but admitted the club's defensive crisis may hinder him from doing so.

“I’d consider playing him in midfield but I don’t know about Wednesday [against Galatasaray] because I only have four defenders at the moment.”
