There have been three goals in total scored between these two sides in Lisbon over their last five meetings. Watch this Portuguese Clássico live on Friday, September 26, 2014.

A clássico is always a very heated affair, and on Friday evening in Lisbon, things will be no different when Sporting CP and FC Porto take the field at the Estádio Alvalade.

Both these two Portuguese giants have a long and memorable history, but at the moment, just two points separate them in the league standings. This will be a match that neither will want to lose, yet given the results from previous years, we can expect a very tight match.

From their last 10 meetings in all competitions with Sporting as the host, the leões have won four, while losing just once, and drawing five. One of those draws ended in a Porto victory after a penalty shootout, with Porto's only victory in regular time coming in the 2008/09 campaign, when Lisandro Lopes and Bruno Alves guided their side to three points.

The hosts come into today's match full of confidence after a superb performance against Gil Vicente. Marco Silva's side traveled to Barcelos and came away with three important points, which has them sixth in the league standings with nine points.

A victory against Porto could put them second with 12 points, one back of league leaders Benfica.

Julen Lopetegui's side hasn't been as fortunate as of late, with the dragões coming off two consecutive league draws.

It all started with a draw against V. Guimarães, and ended with a hard fought draw at home against newly promoted Boavista on Sunday. Failure to win today would not necessarily be the end of the world for Porto, but it's more than obvious that going three consecutive league matches without a victory will cause some discontent among the fans.
