Varane's contract with Los Blancos expired in 2017. With this agreement, the club expects rumors surrounding the player's future stop.

Real Madrid and Raphael Varane have agreed on a contract extension for the French international. The new agreement will extend Varane's contract with Los Blancos until 2020. This way, Real Madrid will enjoy the growth of one of Europe's most promising young players, who is now considered to be a starter for France's National Team.

Varane's contract expired in 2017, but Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez was not pleased with rumors surrounding the player's future, which indicated he was not happy with the playing time he is enjoying right now. Therefore, the club offered Varane a contract extension, securing their investment for the next six years.

Varane made his Real Madrid debut back in 2011 in a game against Racing. Since then, the French center back has played in 74 games for Los Blancos, scoring four goals and helping Madrid win one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA SuperCup, one La Liga championship, one Copa del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid informed their fans of Varane's extension through their Twitter feed:
