The Croatian player kept on playing despite the injury, scoring a goal for Atletico during yesterday's UEFA Champions League match against Olympiakos

Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic will not be able to play for Atletico for two weeks, after having his nose fractured during yesterday's match against Olympiakos.

The player had an elbow thrown to his nose, damaging the main bones and some cartilage in the process. Nevertheless, Atletico's number one striker played full time with Los Colchoneros and even scored a goal after heading a cross by Ansaldi.

After the team's return from Greece, the team's physicians have stated the player will undergo surgery tomorrow to speed up his recovery. Meanwhile, Mandzukic will not be able to participate in the games against Celta, which will be held at Vicente Calderón Stadium, and also against Almeria.

Mandzukic arrived this season as a replacement for Diego Costa. The Croatian striker has scored three goals so far for Atletico.
