Mohamed signed with America last December after Miguel Herrera was confirmed as Mexico's head coach. The Argentinian made the playoffs witth Las Aguilas last tournament

After making the playoffs with Club America last season, and keeping them in the first place for the Apertura tournament, it seems the team's executives are happy with coach Antonio Mohamed and his crew. So, it's just a matter of days before they sign the Argentinian's contract extension.

Club America's Sports President Ricardo Pelaez stated the club has started negotiations with Mohamed to extend his contract, after showing he can handle the pressure of coaching a club such as Las Aguilas.

"I am delighted with his work. I want him to stay for a very long time. I have the final word on whether he stays or he goes, and we are extremely happy with him and his staff, we've got an excellent team, and we will fight to get one more championship," Pelaez told the press.

Asked about the team's current streak (two draws and a loss), Pelaez feels confident the players will turn things around soon:

"It's true that our current streak is not as good as we would want, but we are still at the top of the standings. That gives us room for improvement, and we still have time to change things so we don't have any problems in the knockout stage," the Sports President stated.

Club America will play tomorrow against Puerto Rican FC Bayamon for the CONCACAF Champions League, returning on Thursday to plan their strategy to face Pachuca on Saturday.
