The Austrian defender was left fuming after being struck in the face by the Swedish star during their EURO 2016 qualifying match.

It's been an interesting week for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish star recently became his nation's all time top scorer with 50 goals after netting twice in a friendly against Estonia and reached a century of appearances for the Blågult during their 1-1 stalemate versus Austria in their EURO 2016 qualifying clash.

Despite his advancing years, the powerful attacker can never seem to stray away from a bit of controversy and has now incurred the wrath of Bayern Munich's David Alaba after the Austrian defender was whacked in the face by a trailing elbow.

50 goals and counting...Ibrahimovic is currently Sweden's all time marksman

After missing out on the World Cup, the EURO 2016 tournament will be Zlatan's last chance to impress on the international stage

As the two battled over a ball, the tall Swede was seen hitting Alaba, but in true Ibra fashion has moved to make a sarcastic joke out of the whole situation that he views as a simple accident.

"[Alaba] hit me twice and [so] the third time I was trying to shield the ball. [Besides, Alaba] is [only] 1.50 m 1.60 m tall, so it was clear he was struck by my elbow," the PSG forward, who stands at a massive 1.95 m tall, told reporters.

"[However] the ref did blow for a free-kick, so obviously he had the situation under control. But if not, then I should get a 40-match ban [for that]!"

Video of Ibra and Alaba mixing it up. Should the Swedish star have been dismissed for this?

Alaba and his teammates, however, weren't so amused, accusing the Czech official of being too scared to dismiss Zlatan for his infraction.

"It was a red card for me. The referee was scared of Zlatan," Alaba's teammate, defender Aleksandar Dragovic angrily stated following the game.
