Uruguayans should be confident on seeing their team at the semi finals, as a sounding victory over the Asiatic squad has shown the venom-coated weapons Celeste's strikers are wielding in South Africa.

Group A leader managed to send Korea boys back home thanks to Ajax's Luis Suarez unrivaled offensive strength. Maestro Tabarez's boys will now be expecting the winner of USA - Ghana to start thinking on the best strategy to claim their place within World's best four. Despite claiming the victory by a mistake of Korea's goalkeeper Sungryong, Uruguay played the best and deserved the victory. A match of strong aerial play and constant pressure, another South American makes it to the best eight, will they train keep on rolling?

40 years is nothing

Two years after the May 1968, five years before Vietnam's war cease of fire, Uruguay managed to enter for the last time in the quarter finals of a World Championship back in Mexico 1970. Brazil was the one to stop Uruguay from claiming a third World title. Now the perspective is much better, as a relatively easy rival will be waiting for the Charruas in the next round: As everyone would have expected, Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez are the main responsibles of this excellent year for the Uruguayans.

Without the finesse or technique of other teams, the Uruguayans are widely known by the Garra Charrúa: Whatever they lack in refinement or delicacy of workmanship they make up with a stubborn self-confidence that managed to recover 25 balls from Korea's control in this match, against the only 9 recoveries of their rivals.

At the 8th minute Diego Forlan crossed a high ball to Suarez that could have easily be controlled by Korea's goalkeeper. Suarez found the ball right in front of him and, not known by his mercy, he gave Uruguay the upper hand from the beginning of the match and forced the Koreans to even the score soon if they were determined to reach the next stage. Park Ji Sung tried to find an open space in Diego Lugano's defense, but as any rival that faced the Celeste up to now, he found himself trapped in a Sisyphean task, in which every step forwards was followed by two steps backwards.

The first half ended without much more than the feeling the second one will offer something new, as Korea was clearly making enough to even the game, while Uruguay appeared to be drunk on the honeys of success.

It's in the air

The game was being fought toe-to-toe: Korea was superior than Uruguay at the beginning of the second half, and at the 68th minute they obtained what they were looking for: Lee Chung Yong caught Celeste's defense off guard and evened the score. Fernando Muslera received his first goal in the tournament but this might be important for the Charruas, as whatever that does not kills you makes you stronger.

The last 10 minutes showed Uruguay ready to bag the victory in the 90 minutes. Luis Suarez surprised everyone when by himself he managed to shot against Korea's goal after having won the position from his defender. Now joining Higuain, Donovan and others at the top-striker position, Suarez was the hero that lead Uruguay to play its fifth match in the competition with a beautiful cross that hit the post and bounced into the goal. The heavy rain that minutes before started falling was a sign of the Korean fall.

Now the caution count will be reseted, Uruguay will be able to face their next rival with 11 beasts, for Diego Lugano is the captain and sign of a fierce team with two uncanny gunners, will they make it to the semi finals?
