Having failed to qualify for the World Cup, both teams need a good test ahead of the European Championship qualifiers.

Rebuilding is the order of the day for both the Danish and the Turks. They both were absent in this year's World Cup and will now have to try harder to book their place in the European Championships. Slots are going to be easier to obtain this time due to the expansion of the competition; yet, a spot for either of these sides is definitely not guaranteed. Turkey, at first glance, is planning to stick with the old guard. The old guard however might be running out of miracles.

It is time for Fatih Terim to give the youngsters in his squad a chance. One of the members who has yet to earn a spot in the team but is seemingly set for a bright future is Hakan Calhanoglu of Bayer Leverkusen. The playmaker was the sole shining light for Hamburg last season and has settled well in his new club in the playmaker role. A team needs creativity to grow and Calhanoglu might be the perfect person to build the team around.

Another player Terim should rely on more but who is absent currently due to injury is Nuri Sahin. Sahin's talent has been exposed by Borussia Dortmund. While his career at Real Madrid went downhill, he has shown how capable he is of holding down a defensive midfield role after his return to Dortmund. Terim has not exactly trusted the midfielder much in his era and would do well to change his stance on the midfielder.

Denmark has much the same problem as the Turks; a huge portion of their reliable players are getting on in years. It is perhaps time to give the youngsters a chance as well. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Bayern has shown he is capable of appearing in more than one role. His versatility and his fearless approach along with Christian Eriksen's vision could be the protagonists for a step up for Denmark.
