The US Soccer Federation confirmed the list of players that will travel to Prague to face the Czech Republic on September 3rd.

On Thursday, the US Soccer Federation confirmed the 22-man squad called up by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the next friendly match against the Czech Republic in September. This time, the German coach decided to give the opportunity to young players to get minutes with the US national team; there are six uncapped players in the list and out of 22 players named, 15 are 24 years old or younger.

The roster list features 10 players from the USA team that reached the Round of 16 in the last World Cup in Brazil. Of the 22 players named, 17 play in Europe, 3 in the Mexican league, 1 in the MLS and 1 in Stanford. Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard wasn’t called up as he decided to take a one-year break from international duty. Important to highlight is the inclusion of youngster Jordan Morris, a player that still plays in college for Stanford.

Surprisingly, players like Clint Dempsey, Jermaine Jones and Michael Bradley were left out as Klinsmann is looking to "introduce young blood into the program" as stated by the manager.

“We look at this as the start of our project towards Russia in 2018, and in this first step we get to look at many of our talented young players based in Europe.” Klinsmann said

“We have some great youngsters coming through the ranks that are starting to break through with their clubs teams and are ready to challenge for spots on the Senior Team, and even most of our World Cup veterans from Brazil on this roster will be coming into the prime of their careers in the next four years, so this is an exciting opportunity.”
