It was a good result for a game which turned out to be a match of honor. Cote d’Ivoire beat Korea DPR 3-0 but have to head home since Brazil and Portugal played out a 0-0 draw in Durban.

It was a comfortable victory in the end for Sven Goran Eriksson’s Elephants. Yaya Toure, Romaric, and Salomon Kalou all got their name on the score sheet for a perfect score line which helped them earn nothing more than pride.

It was important for the Ivoirians to start off with intensity upfront. After all, we do know that nothing is impossible in football and that Brazil could have therefore recorded a shocking victory over Portugal at the benefit of Drogba’s side. Boka was instrumental alongside Romaric and Gervinho. Korea DPR’s goal line was infringed after only 11 minutes through a Drogba header but the goal wouldn’t count. The Chelsea striker was well offside during the process. Still 0-0.

But it wasn’t long until the score board inscribed a 1-0 result in favor of Cote d’Ivoire. Yaya Toure calmly side footed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net in the 14th minute to commence the goal-fest mission. In fact, it really looked like the Ivoirians were on their way to opening the gates of flooding as Romaric headed the ball in from the rebound to make it 2-0 six minutes later.

Yong Jo executed one of Korea DPR’s rare shots on goal through a free kick as the ball flew just wide off the right post. Right after that, Cote d’Ivoire took hold of the game again but as time was running out, things weren’t going their way. Portugal and Brazil were still drawing 0-0. The Elephants’ strength to create an earthquake was becoming weak.

Salomon Kalou got the third goal of the game to seal the score line. But this 3-0 victory didn’t brought joy to any Ivoirian fan. Cote d’Ivoire have expectedly crashed out from the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The Elephants are emerged by regrets born from their failures.
