The 28-year-old player is expected to miss another two weeks of action as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Not good news for Sporting Kansas City. After losing 3-0 against D.C. United at home on Saturday and falling to second place in the Eastern Conference now the Kansas City side will have to wait another two weeks to get one of their best players back.

The club confirmed the news on Wednesday, explaining that Jacob still recovers from a hamstring injury that he picked during a match against Vancouver Whitecaps on August 10th. The forward had a collision with Whitecaps’ player Darren Mattocks during that match and he ended up being stretched out of the field of play. Peterson has made 19 appearances this season and he has scored two goals.

Regarding his injury, Peterson commented:

“It was kind of a fluky thing. It was my fault. I fouled the guy, and his knee hit the back of my leg and just caused what we thought it was just a bruise for a while, just a contusion, but then it turned into something a little bit worse. So we'll monitor it, and hopefully sooner rather than later it'll start feeling better.”

Sporting Kansas City will play their next match against Houston Dynamo on Friday at Sporting Park.
