According to reports, the USMNT’s defender is set to join Lazio after not having much activity with Stoke.

Geoff Cameron transfer saga continues as reports reveal that he could end up signing for Lazio before the transfer window closes on September 1st. The Italian club joins another nine clubs who have expressed interest in signing the American defender.

Last week, different sources reported that Cameron asked to be transferred away from ‘The Potters’ as he wasn’t considered in Stoke’s first match day roster list of the season against Aston Villa. For the match against Hull City, Cameron made the match day roster list but he didn’t have playing time.

Earlier this month, Cameron commented on a possible friction with Stoke manager Mark Hughes regarding his position on the pitch:

"My best position is center midfield or center-back, and that's where I played for the USA at the World Cup, but if the gaffer sees me playing right-back again, then I'm going to play right-back. My focus is on my playing and working hard every single day to try to better myself and better my team-mates."

Cameron joined Stoke in 2012 and has made 72 appearances with 'The Potters'. The 29-year-old has also made 30 appearances with the U.S. national team and he featured in three of the four U.S. matches during this year’s World Cup in Brazil. Cameron is a versatile player, as he has played as a center back, right back and also as a defensive midfielder.
