Last Saturday against Veracruz, the former America player was insulted by the crowd, even throwing beer cups at him before taking corner kicks.

It hasn’t been a great Apertura 2014 for Chivas Guadalajara so far. Racking up just five points so far, “El Rebaño” may have to face the next matches without Angel Reyna, one of their big moves this summer.

On their Matchday 6 game against Veracruz, Reyna was severely bullied by the home crowd, due to his past as a Veracruz player. The crowd insulted Reyna every time he touched the ball, and even threw beer cups at the player when he approached the sidelines or took corner kicks. Reyna apparently responded with an obscene gesture after the game , and Liga MX officials have requested an investigation to determine if the player’s guilty.

“The league’s governing body feels actions such as Reyna’s show no respect whatsoever to the families that enjoy our sport, and are a disgrace to the game itself.  We demand and investigation on this matter and we ask the Discipline Committee to sanction the player according to the league’s Code of Conduct,” the league informed via a press release.

Reyna has been the center of many controversies during his stint as a player. He was accused of hitting Club America’s press coordinator in 2010, and being involved in several fights with various teammates in almost every team he’s played for.
