The Mexican striker was out of action for several weeks with an injury to his left foot, losing his starting spot with the Txuri Urdin

Real Sociedad has no time to relive their mistakes. After their loss against Eibar in their first La Liga match this season, the Spanish side has to shift focus to their Europa League playoff match against Russian FC Krasnodar. One of the team’s go-to players, Mexican Carlos Vela, explained the club’s intentions during a press conference.

“It’s going to be hard, especially playing on their ground, but don’t think we are already making excuses; we have to go there, get the result we need and that’s it. Playing in the UEFA Europa League is something this club deserves, and we are ready to fight for that spot,” the striker told the press.

Vela wasn’t able to train for most of this preseason with an injury to his left foot. Since he is not totally recovered, “The Bombardier” explained his evolution and when he thinks he’ll be able to play for 90 minutes:

“I can’t play a full match right now. I feel a little insecure because I don’t want to put a lot of pressure on my foot. But I’m not worried; I hope that after the upcoming FIFA Matchday I can play in top form. If I keep up feeling this little amount of pain, maybe I’ll be ready after those international matches to make a difference for the team,” he added.

Real Sociedad have a busy week ahead of them, facing FC Krasnodar for a spot in Europa League. After that, they will host Real Madrid on Sunday.
