The skipper will miss out the rest of the MLS season due to knee injury.

Sad news for Colorado Rapids as the club’s captain, Drew Moor, is set to miss the rest of the 2014 MLS season after being diagnosed with an injured meniscus and a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. The club confirmed the news on Tuesday after a scan revealed the damage.

Moor picked the injury in the 14th minute of play during Rapid’s last away match against D.C. United on Sunday. The 30-year-old defender suddenly fell off when trying to clear the ball from D.C.’s striker Luis Silva, in a play that led to United’s first goal of the match. The Colorado’s team ended up losing the game 4-2.

"I just remember running full speed one way, and cutting really hard when [Luis] Silva cut in. My right leg was planted pretty hard and when I opened up to reach back for the ball, my right leg didn't move and all the weight just went into my knee. It was almost as if, for a split second, I could feel my knee turn into jelly”, the skipper explained

Currently in 7th place of Western Conference’s table, the Rapids will surely miss their captain as they keep competing for a playoff spot. Colorado will host their next match against LA Galaxy on Wednesday.

Rapids' fans looked saddened by the news and expressed their support via Twitter.
