Bayern Munich is looking to replace their Spanish midfielder, injured last Wednesday in the German SuperCup against Borussia Dortmund

Javi Martinez’s injury last Wednesday brings uncertainty to Bayern Munich, and it appears coach Pep Guardiola has decided to search for possible substitutes.

According to sources, Sami Khedira, Raphael Varane and Diego Godin would be the preferred targets, especially the German midfielder, who has been linked to the Bavarian club all of this summer.

Khedira, World Cup Champion, was left out of the team that won the UEFA Super Cup just this Tuesday, and would be set to leave Real Madrid. Rumors indicated Khedira was looking to move back to his home country for free, since his contract with Real Madrid ends this season. Bayern dismissed this information, but Martinez’s unfortunate injury may force a change of plans for the German champions.

Godín and especially Varane seem like long shots, given Godín became one of the key players in Atletico’s season. His transfer fee is 36 million euros.

While Varane is set to be a substitute for Ramos or Pepe with Real Madrid, his elevated transfer fee of 200 million euros would make him unreachable. Still, his desire to get more playing time could make the transfer happen.
