Chelsea face Hungarian side Ferencvaros in a preseason friendly on Sunday, the 10th of August at the Groupama Arena.

The Blues suffered a surprise 3-0 defeat at the hands of German side Werder Bremen but will be looking to produce a better performance as their remaining world cup stars return to the squad. The English side looked out of sorts as they suffered a heavy defeat last time out. Belgian hot shot Thibaut Courtois made his first start in a Chelsea shirt however it was far from a dream debut as the star keeper conceded twice in the first half as Elia scored from the penalty spot and Obraniak added another before half time.

Petr Cech was hopeful of making a better impression as he was fielded between the posts in the second half but he too could do nothing as Felix Kroos expertly dispatched the penalty awarded in the 89th minute.

Despite the defeat Jose Mourinho will be satisfied as to how his new signings have adjusted into the side. Spanish duo Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa have looked promising since their arrival from La Liga and both men have combined very well in Chelsea’s recent preseason games.

Chelsea took part in a Turkish charity tournament in aid of the Soma mining disaster on Friday which saw them playing Super Lig sides Fenerbahce and Besiktas for 45 minutes each. Diego Costa produced a performance which showed just why he was one of the most sought after players this summer. The former Atletico Madrid man danced his way past several Fenerbahce defenders before coolly burying the ball in the net. The Blues picked a 2-0 win over the Turkish champions but suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Besiktas.

German international Andre Schurrle has returned to training after a successful world cup winning campaign and after earning the biggest honor in the world of football, the 23 year old is also hopeful of achieving success with his club.

"I'm hoping to achieve what we couldn't last season, which is to win something," he said.

"That's what it's all about, winning matches and winning trophies.

"We have the squad, we have the players and now we just need to work hard."

Apart from Schurrle, World Cup semi-finalists Oscar and Ramires have also returned to the squad and are expected to feature against Ferencvaros.
