FC Bayern are the first German side and only the second team outside of Great Britain to take part in the MLS All-Star Game.

The MLS All-Star game is a precious one in the views of Americans and Canadians. The best stars of their league are tested against a top European side. However, while both sides will be looking to win this one, odds of Bayern fielding their best German stars are low. Instead of Bastian Schweinsteiger, the fans have a better chance of seeing Tobias Schweinsteiger for example. They will be able to witness the young talents of Bayern such as Gianluca Gaudino and Lucas Scholl first hand.

This is not to say that Bayern will not field any of their famous stars. Fans in New York and New Jersey were able to witness the talents of the likes of Franck Ribery, David Alaba and new signing, Robert Lewandowski, of course. They were also able to see Javier Martinez, Claudio Pizarro and another new signing in the form of Sebastian Rode.

The MLS All-Star team will feature players the Bayern stars have played against previously such as Thierry Henry, Michael Bradley and Landon Donovan. Donovan actually had a short loan spell at Bayern, when current USA national team boss, Jürgen Klinsmann decided to test him in his time as Bayern boss. While he played well in friendlies, he did not really manage to contribute much when involved in competitive fixtures. Overall, he did not really have a pleasant time there.

His team mate on the All-Star team, Henry, featured under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona of course and won the UEFA Champions League. Guardiola recently admitted that Bayern's defeat to Real Madrid in last season's Champions League was his worst defeat as a coach, according to ESPN. The 4-0 defeat really put Guardiola under pressure towards the end of last season. Expectations though are perhaps lower than they were last season coming into this one as Bayern came into 2013-14 as treble winners.

Can the holders of the FIFA Club World Cup win the fixture against the MLS All-Stars?
