Liverpool's quest for the 2014/15 English Premier League title and their return to Champions League football will go on without one of their most experienced players, goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Brendan Rodgers has been busy all summer, signing new players to boost the Liverpool squad, following the lucrative transfer of Luis Suarez to Barcelona. However, Spanish veteran Pepe Reina has no place in Rodgers’ 2014/15 club football season plans.

Pepe Reina was formed at Barcelona. He played in the C and B teams before being promoted in the senior side in 2000. After two years at the Camp Nou playing as a professional, he went to Villarreal for three years and then moved to Liverpool, then coached by Rafael Benitez.

Reina established himself as the Merseyside Reds’ first-choice keeper with 394 appearances. Last season, he was loaned to Napoli and will not return to Anfield this summer. According to the English media, the Spaniard will join Bayern Munich after Liverpool accepted the German champions’ £2.5M bid.

Not a good move, according to this popular Chelsea and Mourinho fan:

At Bayern, Pepe Reina is expected to serve as Manuel Neuer’s backup under Pep Guardiola.
