Celtic, following a hammering in Poland at the hands of Legia Warsaw, take on Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly.

Celtic, for so long the face of Scottish football, is suffering currently. Perhaps, their troubles started when their domestic league became too uncompetitive. Perhaps, a move to the English Premier League would have benefitted them although it would hurt their Scottish pride to no end. Celtic not too long ago regularly participated in the Champions League, giving every team they played a good fight. Unfortunately, times have changed. And these days, Celtic find themselves fighting for a spot in the group stages of Europe's premier club competition against the likes of Legia Warsaw.

The fact that the Polish side, Warsaw, actually beat them 4-1 does not help matters of course. Celtic have little to no chance of returning to Europe's grandest football stage. However, they do not really have a chance to rebuild either because of the lack of necessity to do so due to poor competition within their domestic league. When other teams have rebuild recently, such as Borussia Dortmund, or Manchester United, it is usually in order to fight for the titles in their domestic leagues.

Tottenham does have the advantage of playing in a devastatingly competitive league but unfortunately do not benefit from this as their hierarchy refuses to plan properly. They are hoping Mauricio Pochettino will be the solution to their various problems. Pochettino has done well since coming in. Spurs have won their last two friendlies, beating Toronto FC 2-3 and Chicago Fire 0-2.

They will be tested undoubtedly against Celtic but Celtic minds will be focused on launching what seems to be an unthinkable comeback against Legia in Scotland. Polish soil, as mentioned before, offered them little to no comforts. Whether Celtic will take this match seriously remains to be seen. If they do, this match could be a fiery one considering the origins of the teams.
