All in all, one can argue that it's been pretty smooth sailing for Chelsea so far.
The Blues have been able to make it through their pre-season fixtures without suffering a single defeat, although at times they have looked largely unconvincing, especially when they were held to a draw against RZ Pellets.
Still, somewhat encouraging for Jose Mourinho will be his team's performance against Slovenian side Olimpija, in which they won 2-1. While Fernando Torres produced one of his awful misses, his international teammates Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas put on a good show in their debut for their new side.
Interestingly, Vitesse and Chelsea are not strangers, as the Dutch side has acted as a sort of finishing school for many of the English side's young talents, and at the time of this writing, the 2012 Champions League winners have several players currently on loan with the team that finished sixth in the Eredivisie last season.
Given that it's a friendly clash, Mourinho will probably be looking to do what he did in their last match and field a mix of youngsters and more experienced veterans.
More important to the Portuguese tactician will to help his new signings, including the aforementioned Costa and Fabregas as well as Brazilian defender Filipe Luis further integrate in with the rest of the squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
