He's yours...for 50 million! Fiorentina slap hefty price on star winger

July 29, 2014 By Michelle Bonsu
The Viola are not going to let their Colombian star depart for a cheap price.

Although he has been linked throughout the summer with a move to Spain, Fiorentina have no intention of letting Juan Cuadrado leave so easily.

The Colombian star was impressive with his nation at this year's World Cup and more important, had a good season with the Viola in which he scored over 10 goals in 30+ appearances.

However, his present employers, who are aware of the rumored interest in particular from Barcelona, now have placed a €50 million price tag on him--something that obviously will not seem palatable to the Blaugrana.

Indeed the club's vice-president Javier Faus was quick to point out that there will be no way his organization would be held to ransom over such an astronomical fee.

"We won't put the sustainability of the club at risk," he was quoted as saying to reporters earlier today.

Meanwhile, the Viola management are confident that the hefty fee could frighten off potential suitors as they hope to hang on to one of their most talented players for a while longer.

"We hope that Cuadrado will continue to play for Fiorentina. There has not been an official offer for him," sporting director Daniel Prade noted to Sky Sport 24.

"[However] if anoffer of €50 million were to come in, we would be willing to open talks. But [we have yet to receive] such an offer."
