The French international's move to Liverpool has suddenly collapsed after he failed to pass a medical examination.

Just days ago, reports were rife that Liverpool had secured yet another signing as Brendan Rodgers looks to overhaul his squad this season.

After making quite a bit of cash from the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, the Premier League side, who were quite close to winning the title only to see it slip away, the Reds looked set to make QPR's Loic Remy their fifth new acquisition of this summer's transfer market.

What now? The French international was hoping to play Champions League football this season and so had rejected clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle, where he spent last season, to get his wish

Unfortunately, his deal, which would have cost Liverpool just £8.5 million due to a special clause in his contract as well as see him earn a wage package of £80,000 now suddenly has fallen through.

While the Reds weren't specific as to exactly why, both the Liverpool Echo as well as the Mirror claim it is due to a failed medical, and the latter publication does concede that the player, who featured in the World Cup was struggling with a calf injury.

However, that obviously is not enough for a club to suddenly back out of signing someone leading to whispers that Remy's health issues are much more serious.

And as usual, social media went into overdrive with people taking it upon themselves to speculate and indicate that perhaps an underlying heart issue was behind the sudden transfer collapse.

All in all, this surely will be quite frustrating to the player who was desperate to feature in the Champions League and will have to return to QPR--who just won promotion back to the top tier after featuring in the Championship last season.
