Argentina, despite winning three out of three matches in this tournament, has not been highly impressive. The attack of the Swiss side will test their defense.

The Swiss started their campaign with a good win over Ecuador only to succumb in their next match to France. They do not like doing anything easily. The Swiss defense has plenty of cracks. Honduras exposed them too. Switzerland were lucky not to concede a goal. However, their counterattacks were devastating.

The Swiss' biggest asset is perhaps their counterattacking skills. This is helped by the fact the short, speedy and highly talented Xherdan Shaqiri seems to have found his form again. He helped himself to a hat-trick to seal a 3-0 victory over Honduras which saw his team qualify for this stage.

Argentina meanwhile have not necessarily performed as well as they were expected. Despite winning all three group games, they have plenty of improvements to make. Lionel Messi has largely carried the team. Against Bosnia, they had Sead Kolasinac to thank for the own goal. Argentina's second goal came from none other than Messi. The ball took a deflection before finding the back of the net.

Against Iran, they were lucky to see the opposition's legitimate penalty claim denied. Also, they had Messi to thank for scoring a goal in added time. Against Nigeria, they put in a better performance but still had to rely on Messi for two of their three goals.

The Swiss meanwhile have other attackers to rely on if Shaqiri is not in form. Haris Seferovic and Admir Mehmedi have shown they are very good attackers as well. Whether their defense will be able to cope with Messi though is doubtful. Johan Djorou and Philippe Senderos have not been convincing at all. They will be happy that they do not have to deal with the injured Sergio Aguero though.

Can the Swiss attack compensate for the deficiencies of their back four? Or will they succumb to Argentina and Lionel Messi?
