Manchester United close in on £34M deal involving Southampton's Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw has been rumored to join Manchester United for months now and finally, his move seems to be a done deal. In fact, the Red Devils are believed to have reached an agreement for the English left-back at around £34M, which is more than the club hoped to spend and much more than most 18 year old defenders are worth.

Many believe Shaw to be extremely overpriced, but Man United consider him a great investment

However, Van Gaal wished for the young player to join his club, and the board did what had to be done to please the Dutch manager. Shaw, was high on Netherland’s current manager, who felt the team needed to reinvigorate the left side.

The youngster landed  on Thursday at Man United’s AON training complex for a medical and the Manchester club will announce the transfer within the next 24 hours.

At just 18 years of age, Shaw attracted the interest of the Red Devils and Chelsea

After impressing with Southampton, Shaw was called up by Hodgson for a very brief appearance in the 2014 World Cup, were England was eliminated quickly, collecting a rather embarrassing 1 point in 3 matches. Shaw will now battle with Patrice Evra for a starting spot.
