Recently named on the list of the 23 players leaving for Brazil, Costa said he will be ready.

Immediately after finding out that Vicente del Bosque had included him in the list of the final 23 players that would leave for Brazil to represent Spain, Diego Costa released a few statements about his condition and emotions.

When asked about his physical condition, after the serous injury that afflicted the player in the last month, the Spanish striker answered:

I'm doing great. I've been working with the physios and fitness coaches over the last few days and I feel really good. From tomorrow [Sunday] I'll start working with the rest of the team under Vicente del Bosque's orders.”

Costa has been in great form before the injury suffered against Barcelona

Further, concerning his fitness for the upcoming World Cup, Costa revealed:

“I'm hoping to get a run-out in next week's game against El Salvador in Washington.”

Diego Costa failed to impress on his debut against Italy, where second-string Paletta was able to shut down the Spanish striker comfortably

Atletico Madrid’s striker eventually also declared that he intends to win the international competition, and as far as the Champions League goes, Costa replied:

“Real Madrid got very lucky [laughing].”

These numbers show why del Bosque preferred an injured Costa to a fit Llorente or Negredo
