The Spanish league chief has fired shots at the English Premiership together with Cristiano Ronaldo.

La Liga President Javier Tebas insists he is not afraid of the English Premier League upstaging his league to become the best in the world. The 56-year-old, as part of enlarging the Spanish league brand, is currently spearheading a proposal which will see Barcelona and Girona stage a historic La Liga game in Miami, USA. Although the idea has been slammed by many, Tebas is hugely confident of pulling it off.

When quizzed as to whether he was concerned about the English Premier League's attractiveness and competitiveness, the president of the LFP declared that the Spanish league has the edge due to the fact that the former is currently without a Ballon d'Or winner.

Speaking to Daily Mail, he said: "They [English Premier League] don't have a player who won a Ballon d'Or since the Owen days so I am not very worried.

"I think we have a very strong brand now in La Liga so we are happy...".

Javier Tebas then went a step further to slam the narrative that La Liga possibly misses Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar, in what was dubbed as the "transfer of the summer", secured a move worth over 100 million pounds from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Despite the former Real Madrid star altering his direct rivalry with Barcelona's Lionel Messi in the process, La Liga's president insisted that his loss was not much of a deal.

"Well, we don't really miss him [Cristiano Ronaldo], Tebas added.

"We would certainly like to have all of the best players and even coaches in our league like José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola for example but we have been working hard to expand the La Liga brand over these past few years.

"This is worth more than any individual player or coach.

"If Ronaldo left La Liga four years ago then, yes, I would've been worried but not at this moment in time. "
